About

Ross Spencer

Spending many hours immersing himself in the natural environment, ROSS SPENCER captures the special effects of light that are crucial to the colours and patterns of nature. Drawing on emotion and sensitivity underscored by a fine sense of composition and keen awareness in observing the elements rather than the broad landscape, Ross has created an extensive portfolio of Australian images where he transforms the ordinary into the extraordinary; photography becomes art.

His passion to merge art and photography has recently led him to develop his unique style of ‘Ethereal Abstract’ images. These images are taken in-camera using various techniques with only minor software adjustments. The more difficult it is for the viewer to determine if it is a photo or watercolour painting, the more successful he considers the image. This style, when printed on Fine Art and other speciality papers, is particularly suitable as art for installation in most project types.

Through his work, Ross has helped multiple businesses bring nature into a space, facilitating the innate human instinct to connect with nature and other living beings through biophilic design. Biophilic design brings the outside in, reconnecting us with nature. Using environmental photo-art in the built environment can connect people with the natural environment, creating a more productive and healthy interior for people to inhabit.

Ross has an extensive and highly successful portfolio, and is well placed to meet the growing demand for this form of art. His images have been installed in many private, corporate, medical and hospitality projects around Australia including Hayman Island, Gold Coast Convention Centre, Hyatt, Ramada, Mantra, Breakfree, Peppers, Ibis, Grand Mercure, Crown Plaza Resorts, North West and Pindara Hospitals.
